– Deadlines Extended –

Due to the delay in FAFSA data being supplied to the University of Oregon, the UO is extending the confirmation deadline to June 1, 2024, for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. We are also extending the priority FAFSA filing deadline to April 1, 2024, for all UO students.

Requirements for Applicants with GEDs

If you earned a General Education Development degree (GED), complete the online application for admission, including the 650-word maximum essay prompt, enter 999GED as your high school code, and leave blank the section for course work. With a GED, you are not required to submit SAT scores, ACT scores, or high school transcripts.  However, since admission to the UO is competitive, it is to your advantage to provide any materials or scores that might support your chances of admission. Meeting the GED minimums does not guarantee admission. GED students are not eligible for consideration for any of the automatic scholarships.

The date of your GED matters:

  • If you received your GED after December 2013, your standard score on each of the four examinations must be at least 150, and a total score of 680 or higher.
  • If you received your GED between January 2002 and December 2013, your standard score on each of the five examinations must be at least 410, with an overall average of 580 or higher.
  • If you received your GED before January 2002, your standard score on each of the five examinations must be at least 40, with an overall average of 58 or higher.
  • In addition, if you received your GED in the spring of 1997 or later, you must demonstrate second language proficiency.

If you have completed a GED, send your scores to the UO by going to GED Testing Service - Request a transcript.

While no minimum scores are established at this time, UO will consider your HiSET or TESC scores on a case-by-case basis.
