What does it mean to be a Duck? It means insatiable curiosity. It means an openness to the unfamiliar, and a willingness to give something new a shot. Being a Duck means being part of a community that’s ever-changing, embracing that change, and looking for ways to improve it. This is your place to figure out how to make your mark on the world.

Visit campus
There’s something special about this place. We’re at the heart of rivers and mountains and wild coastline, in a vibrant town that’s not too big, not too small. Our campus is a literal arboretum, lush and green, and it buzzes with excitement and energy. We like to think it’s pretty perfect. So come for a visit and let us show you why.
Get connected to the UO
There are so many ways to find out what it's like to be a Duck. Stay connected with a one-on-one meetup, or explore our digital resources to imagine your life on campus.
Your life as a Duck
Like most universities, we’ve got a lot of ways to get involved on campus. We could tell you all about our 300-plus student organizations, our seven libraries, our 18 NCAA athletics teams, our 214,000 square feet of state-of-the-art student union space. But all those facts and numbers are only part of the story.
Life as a UO student isn’t defined by the buildings or the rankings or the clubs—it’s the community. This is a campus that values authenticity and genuine interactions, where nerding out over your passions isn’t nerdy at all. We’re abuzz with fresh ideas, and there’s a spark to the atmosphere that inspires you to try something big, something groundbreaking. All around you are the tools you need to make it happen, with the people you need to show you how.
In short, this is the place to find your place.
Funding your path
A college degree is a big investment, but finances don’t have to be a barrier to becoming a Duck. Our financial aid team offers guidance to students on federal aid, scholarships, loans, and even general financial literacy and budgeting guidance. We will automatically consider you for some scholarships based on your GPA. Summit and Apex scholarships are available to all students. The UO Excellence scholarship is granted to out-of-state students, and PathwayOregon covers full tuition and fees for academically qualified, Pell-eligible Oregonians. Some scholarships require an additional scholarship application, including the Presidential and Diversity Excellence scholarships.
Submit your FAFSA by the priority deadline (March 1), apply for UO scholarships (deadlines vary, but most are due January 15), and submit any requested supporting documents by February 15. We will mail you information on any aid and scholarships that you were awarded by late March.
You’ll be right at home
Ready to be immersed in the UO community? As a first-year student, you’ll live on campus in one of our 10 residence halls. Now that you’re admitted, you are eligible to register for housing. The earlier you sign up for housing, the more choices you will have when selecting your room. Review the options for room types, communities, and meal plans. With 14 unique venues to choose from, you’re sure to find fresh, local, innovative food you love.
Surround yourself with like-minded Ducks in one of our academic residential communities and make lifelong friends while earning credits. You’ll live, study, and explore your new home with a small cohort of other first-year students and resident faculty members. Topics range from business to the environment to Native American and Indigenous studies.
