1. What are the benefits of dual enrollment?
- Coordinated advising and course planning
- Straightforward financial aid process
- Flexibility in course selection and planning
- Expanded student options and choices of curriculum
- Access to a wider array of services and activities
2. How do students apply for the program?
Students must be admitted to both institutions and complete the additional application form (below) or at the respective community college. Application forms are available at:
- Lane Community College Enrollment Services or online
- Southwestern Oregon Community College Admission Office or online
- UO Office of Admissions
3. What tuition do students pay?
- Tuition and fees will be assessed based on the courses for which students register. Community college tuition and fees will be assessed for community college courses; UO tuition and fees will be assessed for UO courses. Withdrawals and refunds shall be handled by the institution that received the tuition and fees in accordance with its rules and policies.
- Tuition will be assessed at resident or nonresident rates depending upon the residency classification of the student. Residency classification for community college courses will be based on criteria established by your community college.
- Students admitted in the dual enrollment program and taking classes at both UO and a community college will pay fees for each institution according to each institution’s normal fee structure.
4. How does the AAOT fit into this agreement?
- Students who have been admitted to the dual enrollment program may satisfy the general education requirements for the UO either through completing the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree or using the “direct transfer” path.
- Students enrolled in the dual enrollment program may complete their AAOT after matriculation at the University of Oregon and have the degree satisfy their lower division general education requirements.
5. How will course registration work?
Students will register for courses through the regular registration processes at each institution.
6. How will the financial aid process work?
Financial aid eligibility for students accepted into the dual enrollment program will be determined as follows:
Your community college will evaluate and award financial aid to all students with 1–89 earned credits. Students should apply for financial aid using the college code that corresponds to the school that will award their aid. The Lane Community College number is 003196; the Southwestern Oregon Community College code is 003220.
The UO will evaluate and award financial aid to all students with 90 or more earned credits. These students should use the University of Oregon number 003223.
Dual enrollment students will be expected to abide by the financial aid policies and procedures set by the campus evaluating and awarding financial aid. They may apply for academic and departmental scholarships at either campus.
7. Can dually enrolled students live in the UO residence halls?
Yes, students in the program are considered for housing on the same basis as UO students.
