Freshman Timeline

As you apply to attend the University of Oregon, use this timeline to stay on track. Plan to apply for housing as soon as possible. You don't need to be admitted to the university to apply. Housing is awarded on a first-come basis. Also, keep in mind, many departments and majors have earlier deadlines that are not listed on this timeline.
October
- Oregon residents fill out the Presidential Scholarship application available October 1
- Qualifying students fill out the Diversity Excellence Scholarship available October 1
- Submit your application for admission to the university before the due date next month, to be considered for nonbinding early notification
November
- Apply to the Clark Honors College by November 1 for early nonbinding notification. Submit your application along with the general university application
- Submit your Clark Honors College supporting documents by November 7
December
- Download the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) worksheet available online this month
January
- Start filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) when it becomes available January 1. Submit the FAFSA online or mail the completed FAFSA to the federal processors before February 1 to meet the UO priority deadline of March 1
- Submit your university application by January 15 (this application is also used to apply to the Clark Honors College). Students who submit the university application by January 15 will be automatically considered for general university, Dean’s, WUE, Laurel and Oregon Community Credit Union scholarships
- Meet the Presidential Scholarship Application and Diversity Excellence Scholarship Application postmark deadline of January 15
February
- Submit the FAFSA online by February 1 to meet the UO priority deadline of March 1
- When you receive an Intent to Register Form, complete it and return the form with your $200 advance tuition deposit (ATD) by May 1, the national response to colleges deadline. The ATD confirmation packet includes business office and health history forms that must be completed and returned
March
- Submit the FAFSA online or mail it to the federal processors by March 1
- Admitted Clark Honors College students should watch for a packet that includes deadlines and information
April
- Check your mailbox for the Chart Your Course booklet and IntroDUCKtion information
- While you’re at your mailbox, look out for your residence hall contract. You’ll need to send in a $250 prepayment by the deadline stated on your cover letter
- Return your Intent to Register Form or submit it online using DuckWeb by May 1, the national response to colleges deadline
- Speaking of mail, your Notice of Financial Aid Eligibility should be arriving by mid-April if you applied for financial aid by February 1. You’ll need to accept your award within 45 days
May
- Sign up online via DuckWeb for IntroDUCKtion (our summer orientation, advising, and registration program) and First-Year Programs such as Freshman Interest Groups
- Last chance to submit your Intent to Register form either via DuckWeb or by mail is May 1
- Last chance to submit your $250 housing deposit is by the deadline stated on your cover letter. If you applied for housing late, a contract may be sent to you between June and September if space becomes available
- You’re almost done with high school. Enjoy your final weeks, but don’t let your grades slip, because you’ll need to submit final transcripts by next month
June
- Last chance to make an IntroDUCKtion reservation and to register for Freshman Interest Groups via DuckWeb. Reservations will be accepted through June 30 on a space-available basis
- If you received a Notification of Financial Aid Eligibility, you must accept your award by the stated deadline this month
- High school graduating seniors must provide the Office of Admissions with an official final high school transcript this month that includes the graduation date
- As space becomes available, housing contracts will be sent to students whose applications reached us after March 15. You'll need to send in a $250 prepayment once you get your paperwork
July
- Attend your IntroDUCKtion session, where you will meet with your academic adviser and register for fall classes
August
- Start packing! If you have returned a housing contact and the $250 prepayment, you will receive your residence hall room assignment this month
September
- Residence hall check-in begins September 22 for students attending Week of Welcome advising. All other students begin moving in on September 24
- Week of Welcome orientation is September 24-28
- Enjoy the first day of classes on September 29
