Due to the delay in FAFSA data being supplied to the University of Oregon, the UO is extending the confirmation deadline to June 1, 2024, for first-year students admitted for fall 2024. We are also extending the priority FAFSA filing deadline to April 1, 2024, for all UO students.

Environmental design

About the Major

The environmental design program is an interdisciplinary BA/BS focusing on visual and spatial design skills applied to the context of environmental sustainability. The exploratory degree, first of its kind in the College of Design and the west coast, combines coursework from architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, planning, public policy, art, product design, historic preservation, and more.

About the minor

Science communication bridges the gap between scientific research and its practical applications. The minor teaches students how to communicate about scientific topics and findings to diverse audiences, including policymakers and the public. This interdisciplinary field aims to strengthen the relationship between science and society and address pressing issues that impact our daily lives. Through effective communication, science becomes more accessible, approachable, and relevant to everyone.

Bioengineering

About the minor

Bioengineering resides at the interface of engineering and the natural sciences, and students with a thorough knowledge of both have what’s necessary for innovation and problem solving. A minor in bioengineering can complement a students’ primary major, given the alignment of the minor with majors such as biology, chemistry and biochemistry, human physiology, and physics. Students will apply their natural science background toward bioengineering problems, research, and innovations.
