Study Abroad

Every year more than 800 UO students study abroad. The Office of International Affairs at the Univeristy of Oregon proudly sponsors over 100 overseas programs in more than 70 countries worldwide—a bounty UO students are encouraged to take full advantage of. Since 1970 the university has had a summer program in Italy, at the Università Italiana per Stranieri, Perugia. The university also participates in a consortium program in Siena, Italy. The curriculum includes work at all levels in intensive Italian language. Courses are taught in English on Italian art history, culture, literature, politics, history, and other subjects.

The Romance languages department runs intensive language programs in Mexico, where students may complete an entire year’s work in one term. A summer program offers courses in Mexican literature and civilization as well as language training at second-, third-, and fourth-year levels.

A winter-spring program in Seville, Spain offers two terms of courses in Spanish history, art, and literature as well as language.

The Oregon University System provides opportunities for a year’s study in France at the Universities of Poitiers and Lyon. The University of Oregon provides the opportunity to spend winter term at the University of Le Mans.
