Applicants with GEDs

The University of Oregon welcomes applicants with General Education Development degrees (GEDs).
To apply to the UO, complete the online application for admission, select “GED” as your high school, and leave blank the section for course work. With a GED, you are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, or high school transcripts.
The date of your GED matters:
- If you received your GED after January 2002, your standard score on each of the five examinations must be at least 410, with an overall average of 580 or higher
- If you received your GED before January 2002, your standard score on each of the five examinations must be at least 40, with an overall average of 58 or higher
In addition, if you received your GED in the spring of 1997 or later, you must demonstrate second language proficiency as described under the UO's Freshman Admission Information.
Students receiveing a GED in the state of Oregon who wish to have scores sent to the UO can complete and print the Oregon GED Test Records Request Form and mail it to:
