The UO at Fiesta Mexicana
¡BienvenidOs!
We're excited to announce that the University of Oregon is a major sponsor of both Fiesta Latina in Springfield (July 28, 2012) and Fiesta Mexicana in Woodburn (August 3–5, 2012). The UO plans to have a significant and robust presence supporting both events in the coming years. These commitments are part of the UO’s outreach efforts to increase college attendance in the Hispanic and Latino communities of Oregon. Other efforts include the Oportunidades program and increased scholarship funding.
The UO at Fiesta Mexicana
This year the UO is sole sponsor of the 49th Fiesta Mexicana Family Stage. Fiesta Mexicana’s weekend of festivities is scheduled for August 3–5 in Legion Park, Woodburn. Join us at our booth, and come walk with the Duck in the Saturday parade!
Walk with the Duck
We invite you to walk with the UO Duck in the Fiesta Mexicana parade scheduled for noon-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 4 in Woodburn. Come celebrate the UO and the Latino community with prospective Ducks and current UO students as we follow the Duck and the fiesta’s royal court on the one-mile parade route through Woodburn. You’ll even receive a special UO t-shirt to wear in the parade.
To participate, RSVP online by Wednesday, August 1, as space is limited. Print and sign a copy of the waiver and medical emergency permission form, and bring it with you on August 4. The parade begins at the Woodburn Aquatic Center located at 190 Oak Street and will culminate at Legion Park in Woodburn. Plan to arrive by 11:00 a.m. at the aquatic center’s parking lot and look for university staff and students in green Oregon Duck shirts.
