Freshmen Get a Taste for the Art of Eating
Each year incoming freshmen to the University of Oregon have the opportunity to take special seminar courses designed to introduce them to the college environment through small, interactive, and thought-provoking Freshmen Seminars. This fall, freshmen had the opportunity to study Buddhism through Art, Weird Science, and Womens Fiction: Chick Lit Then and Now, among others. A brave group of 18 students committed to Sana Krusoes Freshman Seminar Eating and Art, a course designed to examine the intersection of social practices, literature, film, art and food. Krusoes course culminated in students designing their own table setting. Among the submissions was an Awkward Table where the dishes were designed not to work, and a Great American Table where diners ate off red, white, and blue dishes and sipped from Abraham Lincoln's hat. Read more about Eating and Art and all the other Freshmen Seminars here.
